Project Bike: Dad's XT500 - Tear down begins

The tear down begins. The bike is in my grandpa's garage in Port Elgin. Dad is going to be doing a lot of the engine and restoration work before we bring it down to my place in Ayr.

 Step 1: We got the engine out of the frame

I was a huge ninja turtles fan as a kid. Dad & I put this sticker on the front fender and its still there all these years later

The tank is still in mint condition. I think I'll need to get a donor tank for the street tracker project as I want to change up the colour scheme (poo brown just doesn't look fast...) and this tank is too nice to strip down. Not a single dent!
